Delivery to Utah Division of Parks and Recreation
Silver Ships is proud to announce a recent delivery of an Explorer 26 landing craft to the Utah Division of Parks and Recreation.
The Utah Department of Natural Resources manages the state’s 43 state parks, heritage parks and museums which are visited by almost 4 million people per year. Because of the variety of sites that each division manages, the Parks and Recreation division began seeking a new vessel for service on Lake Powell that would perform equally well at higher altitudes as well as at sea level. Combatting both extreme heat and cold conditions, the department sought a vessel that would maximize simplicity of operation with both crew comfort and effectiveness in mind.
The Silver Ships Explorer 26 landing craft was determined to be the best fit for the department based on its operator and crew needs. The 26-foot vessel had twin Suzuki 300HP outboards that allow for high speeds. The vessel also features 30A shorepower and top-of-the-line Simrad navigation and electronics for use on multiple bodies of water at different altitudes.
For climate control and crew comfort, the department opted for a completely enclosed walk around cabin including fully coated pilothouse and vessel interior to minimize heat buildup from solar loading. Suspension seating was also installed to help minimize injury risk for operators and crew.
The landing craft is ideal for bridging the gap between water and land, and this vessel includes both dive doors for easy swim and dive access and a bow gate with DC powered bow gate for accessibility to shore by foot or ATV.
